Yellow and Gray Abstract Painting - Crack of Dawn - Impasto

Crack of Dawn
18x36, acrylic on canvas

This yellow and gray abstract painting 'Crack of Dawn' was created in one of those moments when I was deeply inspired and just had to run with my idea.  There was no hesitation as to how I would start and no preconcieved notion about how it would turn out, lest the surge of creative energy dissipate as quickly as it came.  And I think it's safe to say that this is a unique piece.

We don't always know where the journey will take us, that's the fun of it.  And I certainly enjoyed this one.  Sometimes in art it's good to take a risk and try something we've never tried before.  I often work with thick paint, but never THIS thick.  And it seemed every stroke was the right one.  There is so much energy in this piece, to me, it looks like it's leaping from he canvas.  Truly a conversation piece!
