This Rothko inspired painting in blue and gold reminds me of a 1970's photograph, maybe even a Polaroid snapshot. I was going for those washed out 70's tones in a colour palette that reminds me of road trips with my family.
So many of those road trips involved the vast Canadian landscape of endless fields, and not just prairie fields. Many a day was spent roaming northern Ontario or Nova Scotia through farm fields scored with dirt roads. I'm sure I had a photo album full of them.
One by one they surface from memory onto the canvas, each in their own abstract way. Enjoy!
